Hull’s Bio-D reports record sales and announces expansion plans
Bio-D, the Hull-based producer of eco-friendly home cleaning products, has announced expansion plans after recording a sales increase of more than 75% against the same period in 2015.
Bio-D, which produces the UK’s biggest - and only 100% hypoallergenic - range of ‘green’ home detergents, is on track for another successful year in 2016, after reporting record online and high street sales.
Sales of Bio-D products across all channels from August 2015 to January 2016, including through its own retail site and selected Oxfam and independent stores, showed a 77% increase against the same period the previous year.
The company will expand its workforce by a quarter later this year when it takes on three new employees and installs a new production line in its factory in Sutton Fields, East Hull, boosting overall output by 100%.
The Bio-D range now includes more than 20 product lines, from Washing Up Liquid to Furniture Polish, with four new lines being added next month.
Lloyd Atkin, managing director of Bio-D, said: “We’ve grown steadily over the last 25 years, as more and more consumers realise that they can easily buy safer, greener cleaning products for little to no extra cost.
“We’re thrilled that the brand is going from strength to strength and that we’ve got real momentum at the moment – we’re very much looking forward to seeing how the rest of the year shapes up.”
