National sports equipment supplier races into York’s Escrick Business Park
A national supplier of sports and fitness equipment is expanding into Yorkshire after acquiring an office building at Escrick Business Park in York, which has been developed by S Harrison.
Sportsafe supplies and maintains a full range of sports equipment for schools, leisure centres, councils and businesses.
The Essex-based firm is now launching a new division called Outdoor Spaces, which will be based at Escrick, and specialise in outdoor sport and play equipment including artificial grass, outdoor fitness equipment, climbing walls, playground markings, flood lighting, long jump pits, and shelters.
In addition, the two storey, 1400 sq ft, building will house a team of 12 who will service Sportsafe’s customer base throughout the North of England.
Sportsafe will be the 20th business to relocate to the park, which is home to a wide range of UK and international businesses, including High Voltage Maintenance Services Ltd, F Parkinson Ltd and Kleijnen Systematic Reviews Ltd.
Jonathan Neill, managing director at Sportsafe, said: “This new office will complement our existing bases in Essex, the Midlands, Wales and Scotland, and is a natural progression for us as we continue growing and winning business in the North of England.
“Escrick Business Park enjoys a superb rural setting but it is still within easy reach of the national motorway network and offers superfast broadband as well as plenty of parking, in a modern environment, so it ticks all the boxes. There’s no doubt it will give us a superb base to launch Outdoor Spaces from as we look to further grow our presence in the outdoor equipment market.”
Phil Hill from S Harrison added: “We are delighted to welcome Sportsafe to Escrick Business Park. This latest deal comes on the back of our new partnership with York Data Services, investing in ultrafast fibre broadband at the development, which offers some of the fastest download speeds anywhere in York, and is a major selling point for the business park.”
Escrick Business Park is located immediately off the A19 York to Selby Road just outside the village of Escrick and provides excellent access to the M1, M62, A1 and the national motorway network. Over 150 people now work at the Park.
