Barnsley star wins national award
A local Shopping Centre is celebrating having won an Ace Star in the Achieving Customer Excellence (ACE) Awards.
Aaron Powell facilites manager, from the Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley was one of the Star Award winners in the prestigious national British Council of Shopping Centre’s awards and attended a glitzy ceremony in Brighton last week.
The 31-year-old from Worsbrough Dale, Barnsley went head to head with thousands of other nominees competing to get recognition for their customer service skills and flew through the secret shopping first round with flying colours which then propelled him to the shortlist of just 15.
All shortlisted nominees were from other retail outlets across the country and included security personnel, cleaning operatives and other facility managers.
The final 15 were then put through a second secret shopping challenge and Aaron stood out from the crowd.
Aaron explains: “It feels amazing to have won an Ace Star Award and I want to thank the management team at the Alhambra for giving me the opportunity to win such a prestigious award. I work hard to ensure customers have a safe and enjoyable shopping experience and it’s nice to get some recognition for this.”
John Tarrant, Alhambra Centre Manager said: “We are delighted for Aaron, he thoroughly deserves to win this award, the work he has done at the centre over the last couple of years has been great.”
