Middlesbrough Art Gallery to be reborn as student apartments
The Victorian property which housed the Middlesbrough Art Gallery is set to be transformed into a development of seven student apartments.
The three storey building, situated at 320 Linthorpe Road, sits directly opposite Albert Park and is a quarter of a mile south of Middlesbrough town centre.
Dacres Commercial sold the 5,532 sq ft property, which entered the market for over £400k, for £420k to SAS Teesside, a provider of student accommodation across the Teesside area.
Matthew Brear from Dacres Commercial said: “This is a prominent building in a sought after area that lent itself to a wide range of development opportunities.
“As a result, it attracted plenty of interest. SAS Teesside plans will breathe new life into the building, by creating a high quality student accommodation scheme, which is just a few minutes walk from Teesside University.”
