Housebuilder and professional footballers train future stars
Leading local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, which has its Serenity development in Doncaster has supported young sporting talent in the area this Easter, through a sponsorship deal to train young footballers.
The deal sees the housebuilder sponsoring Premier Coaching, a three-day UEFA Licenced youth training session hosted by former Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United defender, Leigh Bromby, who was aided by current footballers Billy Sharp, Del Geary and John McGrath at Balby Carr Sports Academy in Doncaster.
The events, which took place over Easter proved to be a great success, and saw local youngsters flocking to the sessions, which were sponsored by the nearby David Wilson Homes Serenity development through a £500 donation to help with the running costs of the training. The sponsorship deal further boosts the housebuilder’s drive to encourage young talent, and follows on from a recent deal to fund grassroot sports within Yorkshire, which saw the housebuilder become the main kit sponsor for Wakefield based youth football team, Carlton and Rothwell Giants.
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been able to sponsor Premier Coaching and it was great to see the talented young footballers in the region getting involved with Leigh’s sessions. We always strive to have a positive impact on all areas in which we build our developments, and this is simply another way that we’re able to make have a positive impact within the community.”
Leigh Bromby, the UEFA Licenced coach putting on the training sessions, commented: “We’re very grateful to have had David Wilson Homes on board with our Doncaster training session, which gave young footballers in the South Yorkshire area the perfect opportunity to receive UEFA standard coaching, whilst also meeting a number of professional footballers, such as Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp!
