Affordable housing hat-trick adds £10m to Bardsley Construction pipeline
Family-owned building firm Bardsley Construction has cemented its position within the affordable housing market after nabbing a hat-trick of contracts worth £10m.
The Dukinfield-headquartered company is set to deliver units for Halton Housing Trust in Runcorn, Places for People in Blackburn and Adactus Housing in Chorley
The Runcorn project will see Bardsley create 21 two- and three-bed homes and 21 two-bedroom flats, along with a new access road, parking facilities and landscaping, as part of a £4m scheme on Pine Road from Halton Housing Trust.
Architecture firm PRP Manchester designed the scheme, while Liverpool-based Alan Johnston Partnership is on board providing civil engineering services.
Work on the project is due for completion in May 2017.
Elsewhere, Bardsley has been chosen by Places for People to deliver 36 two- and three-bedroom homes and two bungalows at Newfield and Foss, Blackburn. Also due for completion in May next year, the scheme was designed by architects Arcus Manchester and involves civil engineering expertise from Curtins Liverpool.
Adding a further £2m to Bardsley’s North West project pipeline, Adactus Housing has called on the firm to demolish a former fire station in Chorley and build 12 two-bedroom apartments designed by Liverpool architects Halsall Lloyd Partnership. Civil engineering services on the Weldbank Lane scheme have been provided by Sutcliffes Projects Liverpool.
Bardsley Construction’s procurement director, Ged Rooney, commented: “The awarding of these contracts presents our first opportunity to work with Places for People, Halton Housing Trust and Arcus architects and cement our ongoing relationship with Adactus Housing and the design practices of PRP, Halsall Lloyd, Curtins, AJP and Sutcliffes.
“They represent further and welcome recognition of our hard-earned reputation for expertise and excellence in the provision of affordable housing.”
