Investment firm Limitless Earth in six figure backing for American nano technology innovator
London-based investment company Limitless Earth have announced a $300k (approx. £200k) investment in American nano technology firm Exogenesis Corporation.
The backing, which Limitless describes as part of their ‘strategy of investments driven by an aging population’, comes by way of 8% convertible loan notes.
Exogenesis are a Massachusetts-based technology company who specialise in researching and commercialising nano technology and related innovations, and have attracted almost $25m in funding in recent years.
Founded in 2005, the American company has pioneered a nanoscale surface modification technology which it is claimed improves the safety of implantable medical devices and could be used for the next generation of microscopes and tools for DNA analysis.
Guido Contesso, Director at Limitless Earth, commented: “The need for better and more affordable healthcare has become critical. In industrialised economies, aging populations are putting enormous strains on national healthcare systems, and in emerging economies, population growth and a rising middle class are creating enormous demand for medical care.
“Nanotechnology is playing an increasingly important role in overcoming this global challenge including work on nanoparticles for drug delivery which can deliver powerful medications to exactly where they are needed in the body and making implantable medical devices more safe and efficacious by modifying and improving the device surfaces at a nanoscale level.”
