Call for Yorkshire’s tech talent to step forward

The hunt is on for the region’s most knowledgeable tech talent.

There are only two weeks to go until the launch of Techtrade Yorkshire (TY16) – a free one day event focusing on how tech can transform organisations’ productivity, efficiency and innovation. But organisers are already on the lookout for people to take to the ‘stage’ and share their knowledge on 8 September.

TY16 will host up to 15 WIFLE – What I Feel Like Expressing – talks throughout the day. Set to cover topics ranging from big data and process automation, to cybercrime, cloud computing and connectivity, the 10 minute sessions are open to anyone with a tech insight to voice.

So now it’s over to the digital experts of Yorkshire to apply.

Commenting on what TY16 is looking for, organiser Chrissie Gale explains: “The event will welcome senior IT professionals from throughout the region, whether they have tech responsibilities in a microbusiness, a multinational, or anything in between. They’re coming to learn, not be sold to, which makes the WIFLEs a fantastic platform to share knowledgeable, forward-thinking and insightful information.

“WIFLEs prove a powerful open communication concept within organisations, so why not transfer the benefits to a collaborative external environment too? Often the best WIFLEs are from people who aren’t typically very outspoken, so we’re looking for experts in their own right, whether they’re usually vocal or not.”

Applications can be made online. TY16’s organisers only require the proposed WIFLE title, a brief summary of the content and the speaker’s details.

Techtrade Yorkshire is the brainchild of Mooncas, the same team who successfully hosted the recent Manufactured Yorkshire event in early May. Whilst full details currently remain under wraps, the show looks set to host more than 60 exhibitors, an array of speakers in the keynote theatre, seminars from the event’s sponsors, meet the buyer meetings, networking and of course, the WIFLE presentations.

Chrissie concludes: “We have a phenomenal level of tech talent within our region which will prove key to not only the progression of Yorkshire businesses, but the prosperity of our northern economy. Whether a delegate’s area of interest is telecoms, ecommerce, data, research, security or hardware, we look forward to delivering a practical programme of content that will help further unlock Yorkshire’s potential for growth.
