Expansion of Rochdale’s Central Retail Park to create 200 jobs
A shopping park in Rochdale is set to create hundreds of employment opportunities as property investment firm Town Centre Securities lays out plans to expand the site.
Town Centre Securities is extending Central Retail Park by 75,000 sq ft and adding a new drive-thru unit, potentially creating as many as 200 jobs for the area.
As part of the expansion one of the site’s retailers, discount chain Poundstrecher, has signed a new 10-year lease to increase its footprint at the park to 19,750 sq ft. Building firm Triton Construction has been tasked with delivering the 5,000sq ft extension, with completion due in August this year.
WSB, a property consultancy based in Leeds, has been appointed to market the scheme.
Adam Mobley, a partner at WSB, said; “After only a short time of marketing the scheme, there has been a high number of interested parties that have contacted us, hopefully this will lead to some quick deals as planning is already in place.
“This new phase of the park will enhance the attraction of the scheme to local people and visitors, and will enhance the vitality of the area.”
He added: “These proposals will also have an economic benefit of providing new tenants and further employment.”
Located just outside Rochdale, Central Retail Park is home to a number of national retailers, including Halfords, Argos and Matalan.
Alistair Smith, a senior asset manager with Town Centre Securities, commented: “The expansion of Poundstretcher demonstrates its successful trading at Central Retail Park and supports our long-term ambitions to expand the park and further invest into Rochdale.”
