Luxury 580-bed student accommodation plans take shape near Wembley Stadium
Real estate investment trust GCP Student Living plc have announced the acquisition of a new student accommodation development near Wembley Stadium.
The forward-funded Apex House development, which sits adjacent to the stadium in the capital, will see the construction of high specification, purpose built private student accommodation that will house around 580 students and featuring communal areas, subject to planning.
GCP claims that the majority of London’s universities will be accessible within 30 minutes from the new site thanks to its public transport links via Wembley Park Station.
Development will be carried out in conjunction with luxury student accommodation specialists Scape Student Living, who already boast similar high-spec properties in the likes of Greenwich and Shoreditch.
In a statement to the stock exchange this morning, the property firm explained how the capital’s student accommodation market still provides a wealth of opportunity for developers and investors.
It said: “The directors believe that London retains a unique supply-demand imbalance for private student residential accommodation in the UK, with a shortage of such accommodation driven by supply restrictions and strong demand driven by demand from international and domestic students alike.”
GCP hope to have Apex House fully operational in time for the 2017/18 academic year.
