Being Mr Yorkshire
For the past ten weeks Keith Madeley has been working with Rick Wakelin accompanied by three second-year Media Students from Leeds Trinity University. Rick has 25 years’ experience in Advertising and Marketing, eight of which have been dedicated to video production including TV Commercials, Corporate and Social Media Videos.
As well as providing a wonderful opportunity and real-life work experience for the students, the documentary demonstrates one man’s love and dedication to the county of his birth. Taking into account the events leading up to and after the referendum, the programme is an inspiration to all Yorkshire people to make the best of all we have in Yorkshire to provide a strong and sustainable workplace for future generations.
The team has shadowed Keith, travelling the length and breadth of the county and to London, to cover the many areas of his involvement throughout the diverse areas of Yorkshire. Top executives from businesses contributing to Yorkshire’s GDP have assisted in the making of the documentary. Tom Riordan, CEO of Leeds City Council, Roger Marsh Chairman of Leeds City Region LEP, Gerald Jennings President of Leeds Chamber of Commerce and Sir David Wootton former Lord Mayor of London have all made contributions to the film.
The documentary depicts the journey of a Bradford-born boy from West Bowling to the Custodian of the Mr Yorkshire Brand and recipient of the MBE for Service to the Communities of Yorkshire.
