Newcastle Foot Clinic to double workforce thanks to toenail technology
Newcastle Foot Clinic has invested in a rare type of medical technology set to transform the business as a whole.
The business, which offers a range of podiatry and chiropody treatments, has installed a NOVEON® Nail Laser, an industry-leader in eliminating fungal nail infections.
The photobiological laser, pioneered by Edinburgh treatment firm Selex Medical, is not only expected to double the practice’s workforce but will also position it as a centre for excellence for NOVEON® Nail Laser treatment.
Craig Burton, Newcastle Foot Clinic Managing Director, explained: “We’re very excited to be the only clinic in the North of England to provide this unique photobiological laser treatment for fungal nail infections.
“It’s a significant development for our clients which will see expansion of our business through state-of-the-art services.”
The clinic’s staff received specialist training on the NOVEON® Nail Laser from Dr Eric Bornstein, Chief Medical Officer who, in partnership with Selex Medical, developed the technology in the USA.
Dr Eric Bornstein said: “There is no other laser toenail technology that is even a close second.”
Simon Costain, a leading Harley Street podiatrist, said: “Onychomycosis is an infectious disease which will spread within patients and to others if left untreated.”
Craig concluded: “The NOVEON® Nail Laser has successfully treated 95% of patients and achieved an 87% reduction in the most severely infected toes.
“Whilst mild fungal nail infection may be viewed as just an embarrassing cosmetic problem, over time it will cause toenails to grow abnormally, risk infecting others and become very painful when walking.
“The investment in this technology mirrors our vision to help people enhance their lives. From those involved in elite sports to those who want to stay active, walk comfortably around the shops and generally live pain-free for longer, this technology will change lives.”
