A CGI of the District Centre scheme, incorporating the new B&M store

B&M to create dozens of employment opportunities with new Liverpool store

B&M is set to create over 60 jobs with a new large store and garden centre in Liverpool.

Regeneration firm St. Modwen has signed the retailer up to its £150m Project Jennifer development on Great Homer Street.

Once complete in Spring 2017, the store will form part of the new District Centre being delivered by St. Modwen in partnership with Liverpool City Council.

Construction on the scheme is due to begin this September.

St. Modwen projects director Paul Batho said: “We are delighted to have such a high profile successful national retailer committing to the Great Homer Street scheme.

“We are currently in detailed discussions with other potential occupiers and we are looking forward to making further announcements about other occupiers in the future.”

A spokesperson for B&M commented: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door next year.”

Liverpool-based commercial property agency Hitchcock Wright and real estate firm Colliers International are joint agents on the scheme. The companies are currently marketing the remaining retail space, which is spread across four units.

Founded in 1978, Speke-headquartered B&M today operates more than 500 stores nationwide and employs around 22.5k people.
