On-demand laundry market hots up as startup Laundrapp raises £5m funding

London-based startup Laundrapp has announced it has closed a £5m funding round today as it looks to roll out a nationwide UK service.

Founded by a team of seasoned entrepreneurs, including former Mind Candy CMO Ed Reif, Antony Pink of Accenture and Nick Bransby-Williams of recruitment platform Sooqini, the app has enjoyed massive growth after it was launched in London 18 months ago and now has a presence in over 100 towns and cities in the UK.

Exactly who has invested in this round is currently undisclosed; however, Laundrapp have said they plan to use the new funding, which brings total funding to £10m, to expand across the UK and internationally.

Edward Relf, Co-Founder and Chief Executive commented: “It’s an exciting time for Laundrapp. The rate of growth has been tremendous and, despite uncertainties about the general economic climate, our business has never been more popular. It’s a massive British start-up and soon to be global success story!”

The startup is another entrant vying for the ‘Uber for Laundry’ tag, in a hotly-contested space that has seen the likes of ZipJet, Lavanda and Love2Laundry all battling for market share.

German rival ZipJet launched what it claimed was the UK’s first same-day laundry delivery service back in April.
