Tottenham Hotspur stadium update: North East corner removed as new stadium takes shape

Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur have released new aerial photos as development progresses on their £400m new stadium development.

The images show a hive of activity at the Northumberland Park site which sits directly opposite the club’s current White Hart Lane as their new stadium begins to rise out of the ground.

As part of the work, construction firm Mace have also removed the North East corner of the club’s current ground to clear the way for a basement dig which is due to begin imminently.

Construction has already begun on the first floor slab across the new north stand, with work also due to begin on the second floor as work on the 61,000 capacity stadium really begins to kick into gear.

In a statement on the Tottenham Hotspur website, the club said: “As the new stadium starts to come out of the ground, more visible signs of progress will occur during the coming months, with the arrival of a new large crawler crane weighing around 400 tonnes.

“The crawler crane will be brought on site ready to manage the movement of the large pre-cast rakers, which are the large beams that will support the terrace units and weigh up to 30 tonnes each.”

The stadium is part of a massive regeneration effort in the area, including a £450m leisure and home redevelopment revealed earlier in the month.
