National teenage entrepreneurship initiative to land in Newbiggin
Northumberland County Council’s Youth Service is encouraging the area’s enterprising teenagers to showcase their creative business talents this month.
The Newbiggin Teenage Market event, the second teenage market to take place in Northumberland this year, will take place on Newbiggin seafront on bank holiday Sunday,
Teenage Markets are being run across the UK, with the aim of encouraging budding entrepreneurship.
Local county councillor and deputy business chair of Northumberland County Council, councillor Liz Simpson, is markets champion for the county and is looking forward to see the event take place in her own community.
She explained: “The Teenage Market is a national initiative that gives young people a free platform to showcase their creative talents. It’s all about supporting the next generation of market traders and bringing an influx of energy, vibrancy and diversity to towns.
“I’m very excited about the Newbiggin event, we have stalls for groups and individual young people to hone their enterprise skills, raise money for themselves, their clubs or chosen charities and get a taste of what having a market stall is like.
“Our events are the perfect opportunity for markets to connect with their town’s population of young people, by providing a platform for them to be entrepreneurial, trial new business ideas and sell creative products.”
The Newbiggin Teenage Market will take place on Sunday 28th August 2016 from 11am until 3pm at Newbiggin by the Sea sea front.
