Ryanair announces major Liverpool airport expansion
Ryanair has revealed plans to expand its operations at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) next year.
Summer 2017 will see the Irish carrier strengthen its offer at LJLA with five new destinations and increased frequencies on its existing services, adding an extra 15 departing flights to its schedule and 200k additional seats.
The airline is expecting the expansion to deliver passenger growth of 11%, with the new routes taking passengers to Czech capital Prague, Bulgarian capital Sofia, the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, Girona in Spain and Bari in Italy.
Ryanair will also increase departures to Warsaw, Alicante, Malaga, Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca and Faro on the Portuguese Algarve.
LJLA CEO Andrew Cornish said: “This latest commitment from Ryanair towards the airport and the City Region is a reflection of the confidence that we both have in the opportunities for further growth here.
“Ryanair recognise the recent investment put in by the airport with improved facilities and our best in class customer service, giving the region’s travellers a great Airport experience typified by our Faster. Easier. Friendlier marketing.”
The expansion will mean that, as of Summer 2017, Ryanair flies out to 32 destinations from Liverpool.
