Skipton design engineering firm secures trio of new contracts
Chelker Technology, the Skipton-based design engineering firm, has secured a trio of new contract wins following the EU referendum.
The largest of the new contracts is a deal with JW Froehlich – a global technology firm specialising in supplying equipment to the automotive industry.
Chelker Technology will help supply a series of machines for use in developing a new breed of technologically advanced, fuel efficient petrol engines to be manufactured at Ford’s production plant based at Bridgend at the end of 2018.
The firm was also contracted to design a range of specialist production tools for Rosti Automotive, which supplies plastics to the motoring industry worldwide, including the Jaguar Land Rover.
As for the third new contract, Chelker Technology has been appointed to design a high temperature flue for a new waste to energy gasification plant being built in Hertfordshire, which will become the UK’s largest green waste energy plant and significantly contribute to the country’s waste management by reducing the volumes sent to landfill.
Neil Kernot, managing director of Chelker Technology Neil Kernot said that despite a turbulent period following the referendum, he believes that manufacturing industry had rebounded quickly and continues to offer good prospects for firms like his.
He said: “Enquiries have significantly increased lately and we are currently pitching to a number of leading businesses in the automotive, aerospace and rail industries.
“We have also had enquiries from firms that have previously been manufacturing in China.
“I am encouraged by the pipeline of opportunity out there and these recent contract wins underpin our confidence for the rest of the year.”
