Global Selects Overbury For New Spinningfields Offices
Media and entertainment group Global has awarded national fit out and refurbishment specialist, Overbury, a contract to undertake a project at its broadcast centre in the XYZ building in Spinningfields, Manchester.
Global’s decision to partner with Overbury comes after the company announced it was to consolidate its two offices in Salford Quays by taking the top two floors at Allied London’s XYZ 160,000 sq ft building in September last year.
The project, which is due for completion in December, will see Overbury fit out 16,500 sq ft of commercial space. The completed office will include open plan offices, reception area, break out spaces, broadcast studios, production rooms, newsrooms and a communications room. Part of the work will see Overbury carry out the installation of the technical cabling required for a major broadcast company.
Overbury, which has an office on Spring Gardens in Manchester city centre, has delivered a number of contracts in the North West media industry in recent years, including the fit out of the BBC and ITV media studios, as well as a media studio facility for the University of Salford, all of which are located at MediaCityUK.
Speaking about the project, Philip Westwood, director at Overbury said: “This is a highly technical project and one that requires skill, experience and an extremely capable workforce. Having carried out the fit out of Global’s Birmingham and Newcastle studios, we have accrued a huge amount of knowledge about our client’s needs and expectations and look forward to working with Global once again.”
