Doncaster site manager recognised with award
A Doncaster site manager working for local housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, has scooped a Seal of Excellence in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.
Steve Sharp, who works at David Wilson Homes’ Pembridge Park in Auckley, Doncaster, gained official recognition for the quality with which he runs the site by receiving a Seal of Excellence in the National Housebuilding Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards. It comes after Steve won a Quality Award in the first round of the competition earlier this year. The awards are dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standard in housebuilding.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East Construction Director, Steve Mattinson said he was delighted to see that Steve Sharp had progressed to the next stage of the competition and had been judged as among the best in the housebuilding industry. He commented: “It’s fantastic to see Steve recognised for his hard work in Pembridge Park in Auckley by receiving the Seal of Excellence. Our success in the region is down to the hard work and dedication our teams exercise day in, day out on our sites, and we wouldn’t be able to build our homes without the contribution of our site managers across the division. It’s great to see this contribution recognised by such a respected industry body.”
The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for 35 years. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body, the NHBC, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.
Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety. The site managers who showed particular skill were presented with a Quality Award, with 12 site managers in the North, including Steve Sharp, going on to be awarded a Seal of Excellence.
