Housing development calls on Doncaster to share memories
A local housebuilder, which is launching a new housing development in Doncaster, is calling on local people to share their memories of the town. Barratt Homes, which is building the Belle Vue development on Bawtry Road, is launching a search for memories of Doncaster’s past from local residents, which will then be buried in a time capsule at the new site.
The campaign was launched by the local housebuilder to engage the community and to deliver a lasting legacy on the site. Leonna Hardcastle, Sales Manager at Belle Vue, commented: “Doncaster is a town steeped in history, and we felt that with the launch of our new development it was important to honour the past and future generations who will live in the town. Burying a time capsule of memories from today’s local people with the idea that it will be unearthed by those in the future seemed the perfect way to do this.”
She continued: “Over the next few weeks, we will be working with a local school who will put together their submissions for the capsule, but encourage anyone who wants to include their own memories of Doncaster to get in touch.”
Barratt Homes is encouraging those looking to share their memories of Doncaster to send no more than 500 words and any images to timecapsule@ilkagency.com. Or alternatively letters and items can be posted to Time Capsule, Unit 4, Block E, Leeds Dock, Leeds, LS10 1PZ. Please state your name, age and contact details in any submissions.
