Development puts spotlight on architectural design in Yorkshire

David Wilson Homes has helped shine a spotlight on Yorkshire once again, as the company scoops another award win for innovative house building in the North of England. Having already been accredited with more than a dozen awards for its pioneering developments across Yorkshire, the local housebuilder’s latest innovation – The Chocolate Works – has been highly commended at the national Housebuilder Awards 2016.

The awards, which celebrate the best housing developments across the country, saw David Wilson Homes being praised for its pioneering development, The Chocolate Works, in the ‘Best design for three storeys or fewer’. Beating over eight finalists to the post, the award demonstrates David Wilson Homes’ on-going commitment to industry leading design and development across Yorkshire.

Located in the desirable South Bank area of York, the award recognises the exceptional architectural design of The Chocolate Works, which has seen the former brownfield Terry’s Chocolate Factory transformed into a £100 million development. Using designs from multi-award winning London architect, Richards Partington, the development pays close attention to design details to bring bespoke and spacious interiors to a selection of luxurious properties at the historic site.

Knowing the historical significance of Terry’s Chocolate Factory to the local area, a lot of work went into the architectural design of the development.
