Revealed: Fulham FC's new 'elite' training facilities to support more homegrown players

Championship football club Fulham have cut the ribbon on their new elite training centre at their Motspur Park Training Ground which they hope will support the development of more homegrown players.

The new facilities, which have been designed in line with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), were officially opened today (Friday) at a ceremony attended by Richard Scudamore, Executive Chairman of the Premier League.

As part of the work, the Fulham has constructed an all-weather dome, a 500 capacity area and a 103 space car park.

Funded entirely by the club’s chairman Shahid Khan, the new facilities will be utilised by all of Fulham’s teams, including the first team and ladies team, and as part of its community outreach efforts.

The EPPP has been developed through a consultation between the Premier League, the league’s clubs, the Football League and other key stakeholders with the focus on developing more home-grown players across the leagues.

The new facilities mean that the club has maintained its EPPP Category One status which Academy Director Huw Jennings says has had an ‘immeasurable impact’ on the club’s academy.

He added: “We boast many impressive accomplishments with player development at the Club over the seasons which would not have been possible without both financial support, but also the belief in our methods and values as an Academy, and these facilities and our Cat 1 status are integral to ensuring we continue to progress.”

Alistair Mackintosh, Chief Executive at Fulham Football Club, added: “It has taken a lot of hard work from many people to deliver on the master plan for the Motspur Park facility and they all deserve our thanks.”
