Digital homework platform raises £2.4m and targets presence in half of all UK secondary schools

Show My Homework, the online digital homework platform, has raised £2.4m in a seed extension funding round led by LocalGlobe.

The raise has also coincided with the launch of the edtech firm’s Satchel ‘masterbrand’, which will act as the umbrella name for the company’s Show My Homework platform and stable of learning products.

The Stratford business has said the new funding will help to accelerate its product development efforts and fuel its expansion overseas, ahead of plans to launch a Dubai office early next year.

Founded by former assistant head teacher Naimish Gohil, Satchel’s platform allows teachers to set, grade and monitor homework, while allowing parents to keeps tabs on their child’s academic performance.

It is now targeting a presence in 50% of all UK secondary schools within the next 18 months, with founder Naimish claiming that the platform’s success lies in its ability to increase visibility and communication between parents, teachers and pupils.

He said: “A common misconception with homework is that more is better and that really isn’t the case and certainly not what we encourage.

“By introducing time-saving features teachers can focus more on what they’re setting and why and this helps put them on the path to achieving outstanding results for all children.”

Robin Klein, founding partner of LocalGlobe, added: “Satchel is at an exciting phase in its growth and is now one of the world’s fastest growing ed tech firms. It already has many loyal customers who will happily pay for its excellent service.

“This latest injection of cash will allow the firm to begin selling into international markets extending beyond its UK heartland. Like the best disruptive platforms, Show My Homework is popular with its customers because it is easy to use and produces better results for educators than were possible before.”
