Washing machine manufacturer Ebac scores Fenwicks deal
After bringing washing machine manufacturing back to the UK from its premises in Newton Aycliffe last year, Ebac has secured a contract with department store Fenwick to supply machines at the retailer’s Newcastle outlet.
The manufacturer, which also makes dehumidifiers and water coolers, hopes to eventually produce 200,000 machines a year and is currently supplying machines to retailers within the North East as part of its long-term sustainable business development.
Graham Currie, Group Financial Director at Ebac, said: “Since launching in autumn 2016, we have had a steady stream of orders for the washing machine.
“The feedback from consumers is that our product is good quality and does the job, plus people are more open to supporting British business and purchasing goods that are made in the UK.
“To ensure our customers get the best out of our product, we spend time with the retailers so they understand how the machines operate and they can pass this information on to their customers.
“We have chosen to work with local retailers as we can better assist them with queries as we are geographically closer.”
Ebac has been a NatWest customer for 16 years. Ross McEwan, CEO of NatWest, recently visited Ebac to see first hand how the business operates and celebrate British manufacturing.
Graham added: “NatWest has been central to this project from the onset and it is through their support we been able to open the manufacturing business.
“Their faith in us and our vision has played a vital role in helping us achieve our business ambitions, and we were delighted when Ross visited Ebac so we could show him how the bank has supported us.”
