Bolton electrical e-tailer AO.com hits double-digit revenue growth

AO World plc, the online electricals retailer, has today (January 12) announced double-digit revenue growth for Q3 2016/17.

During the three months to December 31, the Bolton-headquartered company saw revenues from its flagship AO.com website rise by 10.3% year on year, while UK revenues increased by 8.9%.

In Europe, AO’s revenue for the period rose 28.4% in comparison to Q3 2015/16, when considered on a constant currency basis.

The figure, according to the company, reflects a period of focus on building logistics capabilities and capacity.

Total group-wide revenue increased 12.3% year on year during the quarter.

AO World chief exec John Roberts said: “AO continues to make progress on its long term plan; delivering sales growth across all categories and territories, and convincing more customers to experience the AO Way.

“We performed well over our peak period, particularly through Black Friday, with the sheer dedication of our teams enabling us to deliver to our customers as promised.”

He continued: “Looking ahead we have three months left of the current financial year and are mindful of the uncertain economic outlook.

“However, we remain confident that our market leading proposition will continue to drive customers to experience the AO Way and enter the New Year excited by the opportunities ahead.”
