Costcutter Supermarkets Group invests in mobile technology to boost connectivity
Costcutter Supermarkets Group has enhanced connectivity among colleagues across the UK by investing in new mobile technology.
The York-based group, which supports more than 2,600 independent retailers, has introduced a Mobile Device Management solution to securely manage its devices, apps and content.
Costcutter Supermarkets Group can now manage usage, increase security and speed up devices used by around 180 area and regional managers. The platform enables the business to remotely optimise devices, apps and data usage.
The new mobile telephony solution was installed by Wakefield-based NGC Networks, using the O2 network and MaaS360 software from IBM.
Steven Marsden, IT project manager at Costcutter Supermarkets Group, said: “The challenge was to realise some cost savings from our mobile devices while giving us the flexibility to manage usage and implement best practice across our business.
“We wanted IBM MaaS360 because we believe it is the best product for us. The management console is user-friendly and works well across both Android and Apple handsets.
“We had experience of working with NGC before, which gave us confidence that they could deliver this transition. NGC has repaid our faith with excellent service and regular dialogue as we bed in the new solution.”
Steve Tipper, head of mobile at NGC Networks, added: “The Mobile Device Management solution using IBM MaaS360 gives Costcutter Supermarkets Group the flexibility to manage its fleet of handsets and costs more effectively. We’re delighted with the positive feedback.”
