Ealing to get first new office development in a decade
The London borough of Ealing is to get its first new office block in almost a decade after developers were granted planning permission this week.
Commercial Estates Group’s (CEG) £50m Ealing scheme at 52-58 Uxbridge Road was given the nod at a meeting of the council’s planning committee and means the developer can now forge ahead with the 170,000 sq ft development.
Beginning in April, the work will entail the demolition of the current property on the site which will be replaced with brand new Grade A office space, the first such development in the borough for nearly ten years.
According to CEG, the work will create 2,300 full-time jobs, which includes construction and permanent jobs roles, and will see the borough vying with similar office schemes in West and Central London for tenants.
Nick Lee, Head of Commercial Development at CEG, commented: “Despite the Brexit uncertainty, we are confident that Ealing offers a fantastic investment opportunity, due to the arrival of Crossrail and the fact that it doesn’t have the office stock to capitalise on the significant enquiries in the market place.
“Our proposals will deliver Ealing’s first new Grade A office space in nearly a decade, enabling it to effectively compete with the West End as a prime business location.”
