Tameside’s Bardsley Construction nabs building contracts worth £8m
Family-owned building firm Bardsley Construction has won two contracts worth a combined £8m.
The Tameside-based company was chosen by Halton Housing Trust to deliver a £3.3m affordable housing scheme in Runcorn, and by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing for a residential, retail and community centre project.
Bardsley’s work for Halton Housing Trust includes the design and construction of 28 affordable homes on the site of the former Victoria House healthcare building.
John McCall Architects, structural engineering firm Alan Johnston Partnership and cost management business Aecom are also involved in the scheme.
Bardsley is now on site, with completion due this December.
Nicky Harris, development manager at Halton Housing Trust, said: “We are pleased to be working with the team at Bardsley Construction to deliver our exciting new development at Victoria House.
“The project will provide a sustainable future for this landmark building and provide local people with high quality new affordable homes.”
The Rochdale Boroughwide Housing contract, meanwhile, will see Bardsley replace residential and retail properties at The Strand in Rochdale with a series of three-storey buildings and a community facility, along with external works and public realm.
Bardsley is due to finish the development in April 2018.
The team appointed to the scheme includes Triangle Architects, structural engineers Carley Daines & Partners and cost and project managers SDA. Engineering firm S I Sealy is also on board.
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing’s director of communities, Clare Tostevin, commented: “We’re pleased to be working with Bardsley on this landmark development which will revitalise the heart of Kirkholt, providing a range new facilities for the community together with high-quality new shops and homes.”
Bardsley Construction’s procurement director, Ged Rooney, said: “Our long established and hard-earned reputation for the successful delivery of high quality residential and related developments on time and on budget in locations throughout the north of England is reflected by us securing these valued contracts with Halton Housing Trust and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.”
The contract wins follow Bardsley’s appointment last October on a £27.6m private rented sector scheme in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
