West Ham usher in the post-Payet era with new mural
Premier League football club, West Ham United, have unveiled plans for a new mural at their London Stadium ground following Dimitri Payet’s acrimonious move back to Marseille.
The London club have revealed that they are to replace a prominent mural featuring the midfielder between turnstiles G and H situated near their stadium store as they look to adjust to life without the French international.
Taking its place will be a new mural featuring their star striker and current number 9, Andy Carroll, with the club revealing that a photo commemorating Carroll’s bicycle kick against Crystal Palace earlier this month along with “Carroll 9” will soon emblazon the spot formerly reserved for Payet.
West Ham have said the new mural should be in place in time for the club’s big match against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Dimitri Payet drew the ire of West Ham’s fans and senior management after forcing through a £25m move back to Marseille earlier this month.
