Busy January delivers Liverpool Airport’s 24th consecutive month of growth
A busy January at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) drove the facility’s passenger figures up year on year by 5%.
More than 320k people passed through LJLA in January, which was the airport’s 24th consecutive month of growth.
Passenger numbers have increased steadily every month compared to the same period the year before since February 2015.
Over the last two years, annual throughput has risen by more than 800k passengers.
During that time, 21 new scheduled services have been announced connecting Liverpool with 19 new destinations, in addition to seasonal charter flights operated by Thomson and First Choice, Newmarket and Inghams.
This year will see 11 new services launched at Liverpool, including additional charter operations by Balkan Holidays and Transun.
LJLA has partly attributed January’s growth to increases in capacity on various routes, including Bucharest, Budapest, Pisa, Alicante, Malaga, Katowice and Cluj, as well as an increase in the take-up of services to and from Dublin and Belfast.
