Bury law firm Clough & Willis completes deals worth £825k
Clough & Willis has completed a string of deals worth £825k for construction company HH Smith & Sons.
The Bury-based law firm’s commercial property team assisted HH Smith in its acquisition of land and buildings at 85 Bury Old Road, Whitefield, handling all commercial property legal elements of the transaction.
Worth £475k, the deal will see HH Smith turn the site into new head office space.
Clough & Willis also advised on the £350k refinancing of two properties in HH Smith & Sons’ portfolio – Smith’s Yard at 95 Bury Old Road, which is the company’s current office, and 120 Bury New Road, which comprises retail and residential space.
As part of the refinancing, HH Smith changed lenders from Yorkshire Bank to Handelsbanken.
Olivia Hepworth, an assistant solicitor in Clough & Willis’ commercial property team, said: “HH Smith & Sons is a much respected local business so we were delighted to guide them through these deals – especially as the purchase of 85 Bury Old Road is such an exciting step in the company’s development.”
HH Smith & Sons MD David Smith commented: “We are really pleased these two deals have completed successfully.
“The focus is now on developing 85 Bury Old Road and making it an integral part of our business.”
