Liverpool submit plans for latest Anfield changes
Liverpool FC have today (February 20) submitted a planning application for their proposed accessibility improvements at Anfield.
The club are asking Liverpool City Council to approve plans that include increasing the number of wheelchair bays from 195 to over 250, installing more than 150 extra-amenity and easy-access seats and creating improved viewing areas for visiting disabled supporters.
Liverpool are also looking to build raised bays in the Centenary Stand for disabled Reds fans.
The changes adhere to new Premier League Accessible Stadia guidelines that have encouraged other big North West clubs to announce similar proposals, including Manchester United and Mersey rivals Everton.
The planning application, developed alongside the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association and the official Supporters’ Committee, also outlines external improvements to the stadium, including a new lift accessing the Centenary Stand’s upper levels and expanding the Kop’s general admission capacity by around 470 seats.
The club have said that most of the construction work will, subject to planning consent, be carried out in the 12-week close season this summer.
