8 Tips to Write Promotional Content for Your Business Site
Nowadays, everyone seems to be writing content. Be it freelance, academics, articles, blogs, and what not. Honestly speaking, this field is becoming way too mainstream. But all in all, even in such a crowded field, there is always someone that will stand out. Better yet, there are some sets of standards that top notch writers adhere to in order to stand out from the rest. Well, without sounding too much deserving of praise, I have some tips that will help you write promotional content, especially if you have a business site.
1. Begin with a Captivating Title
When we begin writing, we always have a basic title at hand. Most of us continue writing with this basic title and post the work with it. And just because of this basic title, your article gets brushed through like Barbie doll’s hair. You then wonder why bad things happen to good people! Well, the key to capturing a reader’s mind is not only having a title but having a captivating title. Explore your creativity. Think of something nice and out of the ordinary. This is what will capture a reader’s mind and will create a yearning to read the article to its totality.
2. Have An Audience
In most business circles, the customer is the King/Queen. In fact, you are doomed if your business has no customers because customers are the ones who keep you in business, for that matter. Therefore, when writing content for your business site, have this in mind. By virtue of your site being a business site, your customers are by default the audience you are writing to. As much as you would want to write some personal and individualized content for the site, remember that it is not about you here. The business site is strictly for your business and customers. Therefore, in every instance, write content that shows that you acknowledge a certain audience – which is your customers.
3. Have An Opinion
Well, the beauty of writing is that it provides a platform for people to air out their opinions without fear. Of course, without being dramatical or controversial in your approach. When customers visit your site, most of them are not visiting to validate their opinions. In actual sense, they are here to hear your opinion and what you stand for. Therefore, take your mantle. The site provides you with an opportunity to do so. Don’t get jittery. Don’t be afraid to be wrong. Don’t be afraid of contrary opinion. That is the essence of life. Not everyone agrees on the same issue. Conflict is always guaranteed. All in all, just have an opinion with regard to a certain issue of interest to your customers. Your articulation of this issue is what will win customers.
4. Ask For Other People’s Opinions
Basically speaking, when people give you the chance to air out your opinion, you should give them a chance to air theirs too. This is how the world works. If you suppress their right to have an opinion, you are essentially undermining them. Therefore, while writing content for your site, make sure you give your customers the chance to comment in response to the subject matter. You can do this at the end of the article. You can create a dialog box or even leave a link to your social media page where your customers can comment.
5. Appeal To The Eye With Visual Information
A well-known advertising and marketing expert acknowledged that the eyes are the gates to the mind. Indeed, what has managed to capture the eye has already made an imprint in the mind. This is even scientifically proven. In your business article, do not underestimate the power that an image has. If you’re in, say, fashion, don’t talk about that nice slim-fit pair of designer jeans that everyone should grab without posting a picture of them. When you post the image of the pair of jeans, it’s almost as good as sealing the deal. Take note that visual information does not only entail images. Videos, infographics, graphs, and clip art are also part of it.
6. Come Up With Constructive Content
This is central to any business blog. You should be able to provide customers with constructive, relevant, and timely content. This is what will make your business site outstanding. The key to coming up with constructive content is to plan in advance. Everything of value takes time and effort to build. Therefore, take time to acquaint yourself with the subject matter of what you are going to write. Do some research. Embark on a fact-finding process. It is actually by getting facts that you will be able to come up with constructive content. Another important thing is writing about what you know. In this case, it is writing about your core business and how people stand to benefit from it.
Indulge your readers in interesting facts so that they will be excited to learn more about your business, product, or service. For example, if you’re in fashion (I know I’m a fashion enthusiast), don’t be interested in just making sales. Go ahead and give your readers some real-time advice on what matches that outfit, occasions that befit that outfit, and even accessories to wear with that outfit. Give them some practical tips like what colors to wear in a business environment, casual setting, or even romantic setting. Tell them which size of the outfit will match their body type. This will make the reader connect with you. They will feel that you are this fashion guru who’s concerned to bring out the best in them. Showing personal interest in your customers can never be overemphasized. It is what will score you good points in readership, return customers, and even referrals. Try this out and thank me later!
7. Post Regularly
Well, consistency attracts promotion. Your business blog or business site should be active. You should post new content at regular intervals. Give your customers a reason to come back to your site. If you do not post as often, customers will not be inclined to visit your business site since you have already made it apparent that you do not have anything for them. In essence, you will fail in promoting your business effectively. Make a habit of posting at least once a week. This way, readers will always come back the following week to check what’s new. Furthermore, frequent posting has a positive impact on your website. Since search engines like new content, the more new promotional content you post, the higher web rankings you get.
8. Be Responsive
There is no better feeling in this world than having an issue, a query, or a concern about something and seeing someone going out of their way to respond to it in a timely manner. Well, for sure, I’m not this ‘someone’… I’m a work in progress. I have a really long way to go and if you are anything like me, you have a long way to go too. Responding to your customers about any issue that they may have is actually good customer service. If your response is swift, timely, and solution-oriented, your customers will hold you dear. Always be civil and polite in your responses. Even if you receive criticism, show a positive attitude by responding in a positive way.
Conclusion
The above tips are sure to take your business to another level if followed keenly and applied in the right context. All businesses need advertising and if you choose to promote yours via content on your website, blog, or social media page, make sure you do so correctly to make this a worthwhile investment.
All the best in your business endeavors!
