New homes and jobs in south west
Up to 1,000 jobs are set to be supported in the south west with the start of two new developments due to be launched this spring by Barratt Homes.
The five star housebuilder has begun work at Redwood Heights in Plympton and Lucerne Fields in Ivybridge – both providing a significant economic boost to the local area in terms of jobs and improvements to local facilities.
Not only will the developments provide valuable new homes but in addition, a boost to the economy will be employment opportunities for tradespeople and subcontractors, mostly filled by local people.
Sales director Sara Parker said: “We know that those who move to our developments are likely to spend the money they earn in local shops and on nearby services, so it’s not only the jobs market here that will see the positive effects of these new homes.”
In Plympton Barratt is planning to build 190 new homes and in addition to the jobs and the new homes there will be a massive boost for the local community with funds for local childs play equipment, a contribution towards sports pitches, highway improvements and the creation of a public open space to include footpaths.
And in Ivybridge the 222 home development will also provide the local community with a landscaped play area together with a cycle link from the site to the town centre and contributions towards improving air quality, education and ecology in the area.
“We’re delighted the introduction of our new developments will have a positive impact on the local communities here,” added Sara. “Not only does it mean an increase in the number of much-needed homes, the local economy is benefitting too.”
