York IT solutions business powers on new HQ at former Terry’s chocolate factory
An IT solutions and consultancy business has expanded into new premises on the site of the former Terry’s chocolate factory, just one mile south of York City Centre.
PowerON, which provides IT management and cloud automation solutions,, has signed a three-year lease at the 1,290 sq.ft ground floor office at the recently refurbished Stanley Harrison House.
All of the space at the Stanley Harrison House development, which S Harrison has restored and owns, is now full.
The property development company is also headquartered within the Grade-II listed building, which was formerly known as The Time Office when Terry’s produced chocolate on the site.
Located to the West side of Bishopthorpe Road, Stanley Harrison House is accessible from the A64, which gives a direct connection to the A1(M).
Vicky Harmer from PowerON said: “Our business, which also has offices in Surrey and Lincolnshire opened in York at the University of York’s IT Centre campus with two staff, under two years ago.
“Due to our rapid growth we moved to offices within a business centre in Nether Poppleton and since then we have grown significantly, from 11 to 26 people.
“As a result we needed to find a new location that could accommodate our ever expanding team, whilst also being easily accessible with good road and rail links.
“We are a modern, innovative business and wanted our new head office to reflect this whilst also providing us with sufficient space moving forward as we continue growing, and Stanley Harrison House certainly ticks all the boxes for us.”
Phil Hill from S Harrison added: “This building has superb specification levels throughout and delivers a host of energy saving elements, thanks to an array of green technology, including air source heat pumps, photovoltaic panel technology and solar thermal panels.
“It’s an innovative building to work in, and is already home to three of the region’s leading privately owned businesses, Springfield Healthcare Group, LHL Group and ourselves.
“We are delighted to welcome PowerON to Stanley Harrison House, which means that all 8,400sq.ft of office space is now fully occupied.”
