BAM Nuttall is helping to deliver the Chelsea Flower Show's first VR experience
Civil engineering contractor, BAM Nuttall, has partnered with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show to help it deliver the prestigious show’s first virtual reality (VR) experience.
The engineering firm’s Innovation team, which are based out of its London office, has developed a virtual walkthrough scan of the Great Pavilion to replicate the route taken by the Royals earlier this week.
Utilising Matterport cameras and software, members of the innovation team have created a walkthrough route of the show’s marquee exhibits which members of the public can now access on the Chelsea Flower Show website.
Colin Evison, Head of Innovation at BAM Nuttall, commented: “With a phenomenal growth in popularity for VR in recent years, BAM Nuttall is thrilled to be working at this iconic event.
“This will be the first time we have created VR content outside of the construction industry but are looking forward to giving visitors a souvenir of the event and showing off the state-of-the-art designs to those who were unable to make it in person this year.”
The tech itself has previously been utilised by BAM Nuttall for a range of industrial contexts, including capturing a bridge exhibition at the Institution of Civil Engineers and site inductions for workers and visitors at various developments.
