Seddon starts work on £2.3m affordable housing scheme for Wigan Council
Family-owned builder and developer Seddon has started work on a seven-figure project to build 20 affordable homes for Wigan Council.
The £2.3m scheme will see a mix of two- and three-bedroom houses constructed on a brownfield site on Holt Street in Worsley Mesnes, Wigan.
Once complete, the properties will be available for affordable rent. According to Seddon, each will feature full external wall and loft insulation, private gardens, off-road parking and designs that match neighbouring properties.
The project at Holt Street is the second that Bolton-based Seddon has worked on for Wigan Council.
The firm just recently completed work on nearby Riding Close – a £9.4m development comprising 81 new homes for affordable rent at Hindley Green.
Seddon’s North West regional director, Duncan Williams, said: “It’s been great to development yet another flagship housing scheme for Wigan Council and be instrumental in delivering high quality, affordable homes to even more local residents.”
Wigan Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, Cllr David Molyneux, commented: “At Wigan Council we are passionate about delivering new high quality and affordable homes for people in the borough.
“It is great to see work start on the new development at Worsley Mesnes and we look forward to seeing the homes completed ready for tenants to move in.”
