Liverpool FC submit plans for Melwood transformation
Plans have been tabled for the proposed redevelopment of Liverpool FC’s training facilities at Melwood.
The document submitted by the club today (July 10) will seek outline planning consent for the transformation of the Melwood ground into family housing.
The project is part of LFC’s plan toconsolidate first-team and Academy training operations into one site in Kirkby.
While the Reds consider Melwood to have played a major role in the their history, space on the site is limited.
Liverpool City Council’s planning committee is due to consider the planning application later this year.
If approved, housingbuilders will be invited to bid to acquire and develop the site, which has room for up to 160 new homes and associated landscaping.
