Workspace has opened its latest coworking space in Hatton Garden
Flexible and coworking space provider Workspace Group has officially launched a new space housed within a former records depository in the midst of Hatton Garden.
The new facility, aptly dubbed ‘The Record Hall’, has undergone a wide-ranging refurbishment and now provides 58,000 sq ft of flexible office and studio space in the Holborn district more commonly associated with diamonds, jewellers and the infamous Hatton Garden heist in 2015.
Boasting 86 units ranging from 170 to 7,000 sq ft, the building also encompasses a Club Workspace outpost, which is the property firm’s coworking brand, along with an on-site cafe run by Vacherin and roof terraces on its fourth and fifth floors.
Touching upon the area’s heritage, Workspace has also said that it has created 20 units in The Record Hall’s basement which it intends to let to the local jewellery trade. Japanese mobile marketplace app Mercari has also agreed to let the entire fifth floor, totalling 3,655 sq ft, for its UK headquarters.
The grand opening of Workspace’s latest facility, which is its sixth such property in London’s Midtown area, comes following two years of refurb work which have cost the firm £24m, and have entailed wholesale changes at the building which the company has owned since 1987.
Angus Boag, Development Director at Workspace, celebrated the new opening and said the newly specced building would provide amenities and an environment befitting the modern workplace.
He commented: “The opening of The Record Hall is the culmination of nearly two years of hard work to transform the building into a dynamic environment which enables businesses to perform at their best.
“The Record Hall has been designed to meet the growing need for flexible workspace among London’s diverse business community – offering resilient, secure and fast data along with building-wide Wi-Fi, break-out areas to collaborate with like-minded professionals and room to grow.”
