Pendle firm Blackoak Surfacing to create new jobs as turnover grows 200%
Surface provider Blackoak Surfacing Ltd has taken on new staff and forecast triple-figure turnover growth.
The Pendle-based firm filled five jobs after receiving support from Lancashire’s Growth Business Hub, Boost, and now expects to see sales increase 200%.
Having recently relocated to larger premises in Nelson, Blackoak is already seeking a bigger space to accommodate expansion and plans to create an additional four jobs.
The company supplies resurfacing on roads, car parks and footpaths for public and private sector organisations.
Blackoak was founded in 2015 by Thomas Jordan and Chris Whiteoak, who enrolled the firm onto Boost’s Growth Mentoring Programme.
Since then, the company has landed contracts with councils in Pendle, Wyre and Kettering, with work about to start with a contractor for Virgin Media.
Work secured so far will drive turnover up 200%, but Blackoak said further contracts in the pipeline could potentially boost sales by 500%.
Boost is led by the Lancashire LEP and County Council.
Ann Holcroft, operations manager at business consultancy Orvia, which delivers the Growth Mentoring Programme, commented: “It’s great to see the impact mentoring support has already had on Blackoak Surfacing, with new jobs created and turnover increasing so significantly.”
