Accenture tech and digital push has fuelled over 500 new hires

Consultancy firm Accenture is ramping up its tech and digital push after a sustained recruitment push in the last 12 months has fuelled the addition of over 500 new hires across pivotal digital sectors.

According to the global professional services firm, in the last year it has filled a raft of positions across areas including robotics, cyber defence, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, virtual reality (VR) and DevOps, spread across its UK operations.

Its sites in London and Newcastle have been a particular focus for the firm, with its Accenture Innovation Architecture seeing the creation of its collaborative workspace Liquid Room in London and a an Innovation Centre for Finance & Risk on its Newcastle Campus.

The increased focus on tech and digital roles comes as more of its clients demand expertise in emerging and disruptive technologies, with the business now bolstering its technology advisory and consulting workforce for more traditional industries too.

Explaining the rationale behind the tech push, chairman and senior managing director for Accenture in the UK and Ireland, Olly Benzecry, said: “As new technologies rapidly impact every aspect of our lives, from progress in AI to the increasing threat of cyber crime, we are taking on people who possess the skills required to help our clients to succeed in the digital economy.

“In return, we offer them the opportunity to work with those technologies that are transforming the way we live and work, in an organisation that puts our employees’ learning and professional development first.”
