Sunderland insurance broker buoyed by strong first year
Sunderland-based Henderson Insurance Brokers has reported a healthy first full year in business, exceeding director expectations.
The insurance broker enjoyed a 54% rise in turnover to £540k, up from £350k since July 2016, while the firm’s headcount has doubled to employing ten people in total.
The firm, which is based on Sunderland Enterprise Park, was formed when Branch Insurance Brokers was acquired by the Henderson Insurance Broking Group in 2016.
The acquisition saw the Henderson Insurance Broking Group increase its number of branches to 15 throughout the country, including three in the North East – in Newcastle, Stockton and Sunderland.
Henderson Insurance Brokers now has its sights set on achieving a £50m turnover by 2020, building on its current £30m revenues.
Jon Gray, Director at Henderson Insurance Brokers Sunderland, explained: “We have enjoyed a very successful first year in Sunderland, ahead of our initial expectations.
“Over the course of the year we have been able to create additional positions to meet increased demand, with plans to further increase our staff count.
“The firm has already welcomed a raft of new client wins, which will set us up perfectly for the future, and we are now hoping to build on our significant turnover rise and deliver continued growth.
“It is shaping up to be a bright future for the Group as a whole, as we aim to achieve a record turnover over the next three years, and our work in Sunderland and across the North East will help support this ambitious expansion plan.”
