Clough & Willis advises ULO Optics on purchase of Laser Beam Optics
Bury law firm Clough & Willis has acted for ULO Optics on its purchase of Laser Beam Optics for an undisclosed sum.
Hertfordshire-based ULO Optics is a world-leading manufacturer of infrared optics. Its acquisition of Laser Beam Optics, which specialises in CO2 and fibre laser cutting and welding, is complementary to its existing business and product portfolio. The purchase also marks ULO’s continued expansion into niche areas within its core market sectors.
The team at Clough & Willis was headed up by commercial solicitor Guy Lachlan. The firm’s advice included drafting and negotiating purchase documentation as well as advising on real estate, intellectual property and transfer of the workforce.
John Barton - managing director of ULO - said: “We have known Laser Beam for a number of years and have rated their profile and expertise in the market. We were therefore very keen to acquire the business when the opportunity presented itself as there were natural synergies with our own growth strategy.”
Guy Lachlan (pictured) added: “This was a great deal to work on as the acquisition was a natural fit businesswise but also because both buyer and seller have historically enjoyed a good working relationship and can clearly see the advantages of joining together.”
