Firstnet Group appoints sales & marketing director
Leeds-based IT company, Firstnet Group, has appointed Glenn Ward as sales & marketing director to drive its next phase of expansion with a target of £34 million in sales over the next five years.
Glenn brings over 30 years of industry experience in senior sales management and consultancy with a consistent track record of achieving exceptional revenue growth for a range of companies in the IT sector, including manufacturers, distributors and managed service providers. He spent 12 years as sales & marketing director at Hypertec Ltd, where he was highly instrumental in increasing revenue from £7.3 million in 2001 to £17.8 million in 2013.
Prior to joining Firstnet, Glenn was IT sales manager at aap3, where he developed IT distribution and reseller markets, instigating a new strategy for the IT division which increased pipeline by 600% through sales to SMBs, SMEs, channel partners and managed service providers. In his new role Glenn will be instigating strategies to develop new markets whilst building on Firstnet’s success in its core market of SMEs and resellers. The company was founded in 2011 and has established a wide-ranging portfolio of services which includes connectivity, networks, managed IT services, cloud platforms, system colocation and workplace and disaster recovery.
Mr Ward said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Firstnet Group at an exciting time in the company’s development, following the completion a £24 million investment in a 20,000 sq ft estate in Leeds which includes Yorkshire’s only purpose-built data centre alongside a dedicated workplace and disaster recovery suite with managed service wrap. These facilities, combined with Firstnet’s expertise in cloud technology, are key elements of a market proposition which is unrivalled in the region. As well as investing in resources, Firstnet is investing in people and I will be overseeing the expansion of our sales team, which we plan to double in size by the end of the year.”
David Cusworth, managing director of Firstnet Group, said:
“We are delighted that Glenn has joined us. His accomplishments in the IT sector are outstanding and his experience will be vital in driving dramatic growth. Firstnet’s additional capability in IT infrastructure colocation and disaster recovery has positioned us to become established as a leading UK provider of ICT services. Glenn will play a key role in achieving that aim.”
