Spotlight on buying your own home as housebuilder holds Help to Buy event
Househunters could turn their dream home into a reality if they attend a Help to Buy weekend being hosted by a regional builder later this month.
Persimmon Homes East Scotland is holding events at their Melrose Gait development in Galashiels , Carron Park in Falkirk, Silver Birch in Larbert and Dewar Park in Gorebridge on September 30 and October 1 from 11am to 6pm.
The focus will fall on Help to Buy and Home Change, two schemes that have proved popular with both first-time and existing homeowners.
Independent financial advisers will be available to discuss the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme. People buying a new build only need a five per cent deposit along with an 80 per cent mortgage while the Government supplies a 15 per cent equity loan, which is interest free.
Laura Still, Sales Manager for Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “First-time buyers find Help to Buy especially useful to take that first step onto the property ladder, as many of them fear they will never raise a huge deposit.
“People can so easily become trapped in the rental market, paying out large monthly amounts that leave little scope to raise the deposit they need to buy their own home. Buyers reserving certain plots could be in for Christmas too”.
“Under Home Change, which can be used in conjunction with Help to Buy, we use all our expertise and contacts to help sell our buyer’s current home. We will arrange the valuations, agree a price and then market the property on their behalf. There are no estate agent fees or headaches - everything is taken care of. Our sales advisors will be on hand throughout the event to give people any information they need.”
