Property investment firm acquires former car showroom in Sheffield
The former Gilders car showroom on Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield, has been purchased by property development and investment company Primesite UK.
The site, which sits at the junction of Ecclesall Road, Ecclesall Road South and Psalter Lane, has lain dormant for a number of years since Gilders relocated to the Bochum Parkway.
However the building is set to be occupied once again with a variety of options now being considered by Primesite UK and property agents Crosthwaite Commercial.
The building currently provides a front showroom with workshops and offices to the rear, totalling over 30,000 sq ft on a site of around 2¼ acres.
Scott Hinchliffe, managing director for Primesite UK, said: “The site is a landmark in that part of the city with people keen to see it being put to good use. We are now considering several different schemes and opportunities but no decisions have been made.
“Everyone knows it as the old Gilder showroom and there can’t be many people in city who haven’t driven past it so we are delighted to have taken ownership of such an iconic property to add to our portfolio.”
Martin Crosthwaite from Crosthwaite Commercial added: “The building has previously had planning permission for a variety of different uses, including retail and residential, but this consent has now expired so we will now be looking at a range of suitable options.
“The site is in a great location and offers a rare opportunity for large space users to obtain representation in the south west sector of the city where bigger units are difficult to find.”
