UK Employees Prefer Their Dream Job Over a Better Pay

Everyone has their priorities set when pursuing a new job. While half of the Britain’s workforce is satisfied with their salaries and feel that they are paid well as per their achievements and efforts at work, a recent study by Robert Half, a recruitment specialist, shows that over a third of the population would be happy to re-evaluate their salary expectations in order to secure their ideal career. More than 3 out of every 10 are also willing to sacrifice money if they get their dream job, clearly stating that a good number of people are more interested in doing something they love, rather than getting a fat salary. The priorities of Britain’s workforce are shifting, https://elliswhittam.com states that, new figures show that a large majority would accept less money if it meant doing something they love. Pay is not the only thing. What employees seek is a purposeful career. Further findings include:- 84% of them wish to be happy in their roles, which isn’t possible unless they love what they do. 66% of them want their job to be interesting. 68% wish to get on well along with their teams and not alone. 62% expect their friends to be with them at work, which isn’t quite possible in the majority of the cases. Though, you can still make new friends at your workplace! 63% want to feel a sense of accomplishment in what they do. They want to be proud of their own hard work! 63% want to have a good work-life balance, something which has deteriorated a lot over the years as we get too much engrossed in our jobs with no time left for our loved ones. 60% want to be proud of their organization. And 50% want to be appreciated by their bosses (does that even happen?). War of talent is not the only way to motivate employees. Though it works well in areas such as accounting, finance, and technology, businesses look forward to alternative ways to motivate their employees to perform the best and reward them for the same. Keeping this in mind, some organizations have introduced flexible working policies, additional leave days every year for their employee’s well being and early finishes on a Friday so that they can spend some quality time with their families. Today, businesses not just compete on salaries alone, they look further beyond pay to offer the best to their employees and keep them engaged. They sell the employer brand, the career potential, and the culture of the organization at the same time. They stress upon a happy and blended workforce with a greater sense of satisfaction at work.
