Saltaire firm wins prestigious award for decade of customer service excellence

Saltaire’s Switch2 Energy has won one of the energy industry’s top awards for outstanding customer service performance over the past decade.

The company, which was founded in Bradford almost 40 years ago and employs 150 people, manufactures products and provides services to the fast growing district and community heating sector.

Switch2 was crowned winner of the prestigious Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) Customer Engagement Award of the Decade for its success in focusing its low carbon heat projects around the needs of residents, and helping those trapped in fuel poverty.

Awards Judge Alan Whitehead MP, Shadow Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), said: “The judges thought that Switch2 had excelled over the years in making sure that the customer is happy, that the client is happy, and that the service is as efficient is possible. Switch2 have been doing this over a long period of time and are worthy winners.”

Kirsty Lambert, Director of Switch2 Energy, said: “We are incredibly proud to win this award, and to be recognised for our contribution to the community and district heating sector, not just over the past decade, but over four decades. This success is a tribute to our Yorkshire team, who design and make innovative energy saving products, and put the customer first in delivering all our services.”

It’s double success for Switch2, which won the ADE Customer Engagement Award in 2016 for its smart metering partnership with Sheffield City Council – enabling customers to save an average 38% on their heating bills.

Earlier this year, Switch2 also won the Housing Excellence Supplier of the Year Award for its achievements in tackling fuel poverty and the needs of vulnerable residents connected to heat networks.

Switch2 Energy supplies products and services to 70,000 residents and 180 clients across 500 UK heat networks.
