A window into wildlife
There’s still time for members of the public to take a peep at Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s window in Hexham town centre.
Forget, Fenwick’s window in Newcastle, this shop window on Fore Street, showcases the work of the wildlife charity which has 60 nature reserves in Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle, including 11 in South Northumberland, and has been made possible thanks to Hexham Spaces, the new community-centred project which is invigorating the town centre through creative use of empty shops and other spaces in Hexham, Northumberland.
Run entirely by volunteers, the Hexham Spaces is gaining access to a range of spaces in the town to raise the profile of organisations and charities through pop-up opportunities, which will, in turn, generate increased footfall and movement around the town so the retailers benefit, too, while making Hexham a richer and even more interesting place to live in or visit.
Hexham Spaces is made possible thanks to the generosity of shop owners and their agents, who allow the project to make use of their empty shops, thereby keeping the streetscape of Hexham’s shopping area looking vibrant and benefitting local charities. The shop’s display was made by the Trust’s resource prep volunteers.
